John Wayne (1907 to 1979),
[Marion Robert Morrison], Academy Award winning actor, was a member of the California's Glendale DeMolay Chapter in high school, a Masonic youth organization. His father had been a Mason and when the actor was filming in Tucson, Arizona he was initiated at and joined the Marion McDaniel Lodge #56 in July, 1970. He was later initiated in the York Rite and become a member of the Shrine.

Barry Goldwater (1909-1998)
Born in Phoenix, Arizona. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force in World War II and as a U.S. Senator from 1953-65 and again from 1969-87. He was Candidate for President of the United States, 1964. He was a lifelong Freemason, being initiated in Arizona Lodge #2 in Phoenix in 1931, becoming a 33rd Degree Mason in the Scottish Rite and was a Knights Templar in the York Rite.

Carl Trumbull Hayden (1877-1972)
Born at Hayden's Ferry (now Tempe), just outside Phoenix, Arizona. He served as the state's only U.S. Representative in Congress from 1912-27. He was then elected U.S. Senator from Arizona and served from 1927-69. He was President pro tempore of the U.S. Senate and was one of its most influential members, serving a record 56 consecutive years in Congress. He was a life-long Freemason.

John Jacob Rhodes, Jr. (September 18, 1916 to August 24, 2003)
US House of Representatives from 1953 to 1983 from the 1st District of Arizona
Joined Oriental Lodge #20, Mesa, Arizona, in 1950, and became a 32° Scottish Rite Mason in the Valley of Phoenix in 1954. Honored with the 33° in 1961, he was elected by the Supreme Council to our Order's highest rank, the Grand Cross, in 1977. His other Masonic memberships included the York Rite, Royal Arch Masons, Cryptic Masons, Knights Templar, and a DeMolay in his youth, and he was a DeMolay Legion of Honor member in Arizona and served on the Arizona DeMolay Foundation.

Marquez Pope (born October 29, 1970)
Played in the NFL, who was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the 2nd round (33rd overall) of the 1992 NFL Draft. A 5'11" cornerback-safety from Fresno State University, Pope played for 5 teams in 10 NFL seasons from 1992 to 2001. His best year as a pro came during the 1996 season for the San Francisco 49ers, intercepting 6 passes with 1 touchdown. Member of Scottsdale Lodge. No. 43, Scottsdale, AZ
